When October, 2017, was officially proclaimed the city’s first “Lake Oswego Meals on Wheels Month”, dozens of community businesses and organizations wasted no time “throwing their hat in the ring”.
While many made generous donations directly to the program, others created customized promotions.
Some restaurants matched patron donations, and others contributed a percentage of a day’s proceeds. Stores accepted donations at checkout from their generous customers, while other businesses and organizations held special fundraising events.
Lynn Brokaw, LOMOW Board Member, was chair of this successful October promotion and worked with the businesses to keep everything running smoothly. He already has ideas in the works for next October when the goal is to raise $50,000 for the Lake Oswego Meals on Wheels program.
